New home sales continued their free fall in January, falling to a record low annualized sales rate of 309,000 units, while the median new home price took a record 13.5 percent tumble from its year-ago level. Inventories of new homes available for sale did fall, to 342,000 units, the lowest level of inventories since July 2003.
